Caprese Panini with Mozzarella, Tomato and Basil

Ingredients

  • 2 pc Ciabatta rolls
  • 125 g Mozzarella
  • 2 pc Tomatoes
  • 1 bunch Basil
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 pc Garlic clove
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to grill setting or heat the grill pan; alternatively, heat a non-stick pan over medium heat.
  2. Cut the ciabatta rolls horizontally in half and lightly brush the cut sides with olive oil.
  3. Drain the mozzarella and slice it thinly. Wash the tomatoes and slice them.
  4. Cut the garlic clove in half and rub the cut side onto the toasted roll halves.
  5. Layer the rolls with mozzarella, tomato slices and basil leaves, season with salt and pepper, and place the top half on.
  6. Toast the panini in the pan or oven for about 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown and the cheese just starts to melt, then serve halved.
